Apart from a few stripy highlights in a kind of Ginger-Spice-meets-brunette-style-crisis way that I can’t even think about now without blushing with shame, I’ve never, ever dyed my hair. So, with the number of grey strands ever on the increase, I felt it was time – if Scarlett can rock Brunette, then anyone can. Friends who dye their hair talk about their salon touch ups and re-dyes with all the enthusiasm of having a tooth pulled and warn that its a life long financial commitment, so much as I want my hairdresser to have an E-type Jag and lovely holidays, I don’t actually want to pay for them with increased essential visits for the rest of my life. So, at a recent Garnier launch – with advice from their colour expert, Trevor Halls – I took home HerbaShine Fortifying Creme Colourant in Medium Brown (500). Boosted with bamboo extracts and with not a hint of ammonia, its really is easy to apply, although I wish I’d had the foresight to spread towels around me and not just over me – what goes on as a clear/whitish liquid dyes down to dark brown – even on carpets and jeans – oops. Just didn’t think that one through enough. Anyway, the result is great – I’m delighted with my shiny deep brunette hair – the whole process took less that 15 minutes, and it only costs £5.49. Result.

Oh excellent, it was a success then. Sadly my hair does cost me a fortune, once you go down the hairdresser route, you’re doomed!! I’ll be spending £70 on my barnet in a couple of weeks. Can’t afford it, of course, but every time I do a DIY job it just goes wrong (due to the bleach underneath I guess). I’d have to shave my hair and start over if I was to undo this situation. Sad.
This product is terrible. My hair looks exactly the same as it did before.
