Zipping across the blogosphere right now is the shock news that Estee Lauder have taken the decision to close down the Prescriptives brand entirely. You’ll still be able to stock up on Prescriptives favourites online til January but from then on, that’s it. The brand is 30 years old. The repercussions of this are horrible and I don’t mean from a make up stand point – we’ll be able to find replacement foundations, etc – but more from the job losses within the industry that it will cause. Its also a bit of a wake up for other brands because if Prescriptives can’t take the pace of the economy, its an alarm call for smaller brands.

I understood the announcement to say that the counters would be closing in Jan 2010 and that online sales would remain as long as there is stock?
I wonder if anyone will buy the brand from EL. Presumably too, a load of stuff will end up in CCOs.
