The one and only drawback to my lash extensions is that mascara is a no-no, so huge thanks to www.LondonMakeUpGirl.blogspot.com for kindly reviewing the latest mascara from Bourjois, 1001 Lashes, launching next week.
‘With mascara, there are two essential components as far as I am concerned – the brush and the formula.

The brush has rubber bristles instead of traditional brush bristles. These are arranged in oscillating lengths along the head of the brush, and the overall brush is quite narrow, which is my preferred mascara brush shape, as the conical Christmas tree shaped ones tend to splodge mascara on my lids as well as my lashes. The design of the 1001 Lashes brush works to grab every single lash, even the shorter ones and it also get the outer corner lashes efficiently (I have a quite wide but flat lashline.) Of course, it can’t actually multiply the number of lashes, but it does coat every last lash and gives a pleasing fullness at the lashline.

I find the formula more lengthening than thickening. It’s quite a wet formulation, which means it is easy to apply along the whole length of the lash, but it does slightly wilt a curl, and can smudge a little bit by the end of the day if you have watery eyes. I’ve found that the formula has thickened slightly and the potential to smudge has lessened on being opened and used for a few days – I often find this with mascaras that seem a bit wet on first use.

I tested the 1001 Lashes in the shade Noir Demultiplie, which is a sooty carbon black. This is an excellent mascara, which I’d certainly recommend if you like length and separation. I found that the combination of the formula and the brush gave me perfectly defined lashes without needing to comb through them afterwards, even after layering on a couple of coats. ‘
