Rockalily Lipstick

I love the gorgeous Rockalily lipsticks from fab blogger ReeRee Rockette, whose blog is a homage to all things 1950′s and Rockabilly. With two blue-based reds (Rockette Red and Roulette Red) and one orange based red (Hot Rod Red) in the line-up as well as a blue-based pink (Pompadour Pink), the lipsticks are full of Vitamin E so you don’t end up with dry lips. Better yet, they’re paraben free and certainly not tested on animals.

I like the look of these and will probably buy one, not least of all to support a British indie line, but I did think really? She couldn’t find a single good blue red anywhere? I could name 4 or more off the top of my head! ;)

  6. Hi Grace

When I started looking for a red lipstick to start wearing daily, I honestly found most shop assistants couldn’t tell me which were blue based. I ended up buying lots of reds that I just never wore, after trying them on at home.

The red I ended up wearing was too drying, and I found I had to take days off to give my lips a rest.

I just felt it shouldn’t have been so hard to find!

Hope that helps to explain a little!

Hi ReeRee – thinking about it, three of my top four are US brands (Kevyn Aucoin Bloodroses, Julie Hewett Femme Noir and Besame Besame Red) so you wouldn’t have found them at a UK counter – I had them shipped from the US. The more accessible ones are quite recent (Tom Ford Cherry Lush and Guerlain Rouge G Greta) and also v expensive! Thanks for your reply. x
