I’m off for a long weekend next week to a sunny spot with friends so while I love the idea that I’ll just throw a bikini and a maxi dress into a bag and head to the airport, in reality, there’s quite a lot of body prep going into getting ready for this! I thought I’d just document what I’ve been doing and now I can’t kid myself I’m low maintenance anymore!
My skin is crazily dry – I think because I’ve stopped downing gallons of water like I do in high summer. The fact that we’ve had more or less nil summer hasn’t helped because I do pile on the moisturisers if I am wearing t-shirts and summer dresses so my skin looks healthy. So, I’ve brought out the big-guns to put things right. Namely, Sisley Confort Extreme Body Cream and at £79 it is for emergency use only. But every single time it does the trick.
I’m also using Cinq Mondes Gommage Aromatique Aux Epices, EU54, one of the best skin scrubs I know of that is steeped in nourishing oil and leaves skin superbly softened and smoothed – although it does look as though you’ve thrown coffee grounds in the bath afterwards.
Under the Sisley Cream I’m using Thalgo Bronzing Activator, £20.50, to make the most of the short time in the sun and using Decleor Aromessence Solaire, £43, on my face which gets skin really ready for the sun and keeps the tone even after tanning.
Because we keep our luggage to carry-on size only, I’ll be decanting Institut Esthederm suncream and aftersun into flight friendly sizes, taking a tiny sample size of BIOEffect serum, a sample size of MilkShake hair serum, Charles Worthington Take-Aways shampoo and conditioner and throwing in a few coloured eyeliners, black kohl, Daniel Sandler crème blush, and a couple of tubes of Lanolips which will have to do for make up. Otherwise there is no room for deodorant and toothpaste, and that’s obviously a no-no!
How light can you travel? I’d love to know.
