Feather-Manicure
Ciate Feather Manicure

I’ve put this kit to the test now, and actually found it quite easy to do. However, it is a bit fiddly so leave yourself plenty of time.

First of all, paint your nails white with the included Paint Pot. You don’t actually need to be too accurate with this and you need to take more care towards the base of the nail than the tip. I used two coats here as advised in the instructions.

After the white coats you add a generous amount of top coat (included). I have to say I found, after trial and error, that it is easier to do one nail at a time… so top coat then feather, top coat then feather over each individual nail rather than top coating all nails then sticking the feathers on.

Using the included scissors, the instructions advise you to trim the feathers then add another layer of top coat. However, the feathers break up quite easily, so I ended up top coating individually and then cutting the feathers.

Once you’ve cut the feathers you need to file down with the included block files because the ends are slightly raggy. However, the little filing blocks just aren’t up to the job and I ended up using one of my own files instead. I also added a further top coat to get more of a gloss effect.

I think this is my most successful one but I am pretty pleased for a first effort! The nail does look textured slightly so if you don’t want that you’ll need a thicker top coat (such as Seche) to make them more smooth and glossed. The kit will be £20 when it launches (not sure when yet).
